Gas Odor Reported At Store In Smith Haven Mall

Firefighters has to fan out the entire complex after the reported incident on Thursday morning.

LAKE GROVE, NY - Firefighters responded to a call of a reported odor of gas at a store in the Smith Haven Mall on Thursday morning.

The incident was reported at 6:06 a.m. at the JCPenney store.

National Grid was on scene within the hour and shut the main gas off to the building.

The Nesconset Volunteer Fire Department responded along with mutual aid from the Centereach and St. James Fire Departments.

All departments remained on scene fanning the entire complex.

No injuries were reported. The Fire Marshals Office is investigating the cause.
