The Knox School Honored by the U.S. Department of Defense

The Knox School receives an award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve

On Veterans Day, The Knox School proudly accepted the "Above and Beyond Award" presented by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), the lead U.S. Department of Defense program promoting cooperation and understanding between civilian employers and their National Guard and Reserve employees. This second-level award is given in limited numbers to employers who go above and beyond the legal requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act by providing their Guard and Reserve employees additional, non-mandated benefits.

Beginning with a special presentation themed "Citizen-Soldier", Mayor Richard Smith addressed the Knox student body and shared some interesting history surrounding Veteran’s Day and the local community. Knox educator Sgt. Arieanto Sutrisno of the 42nd Infantry Division, was also commended for his military service and the value that he brings to the Knox community, the local community, and the Nation.

Representatives from the National Guard and Reserve Forces thanked Knox for "its outstanding service and continuing support to the National Defense of the United States" with a beautiful plaque containing a certificate of recognition signed by the Executive Director and the National Chair of ESGR.
