LI Massage Therapist Inappropriately Touched 3 More Women: SCPD

Since his arrest in Aug., the 33-year-old was discovered to have sexually abused 7 women while working at 2 day spas in Suffolk, police say.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY - A massage therapist arrested in August for sexually abusing customers at day spas where he was employed was charged on Thursday with three additional incidents in Bayport and Smithtown, according to Suffolk Police.

After additional victims came forward, it was determined that 33-year-old Matthew Widener, of Farmingville inappropriately touched two women at Karasmatic Day Spa in Bayport and one at Elements Massage in Smithtown between October 2017 and May 2018, police said.

Fifth Squad detectives charged him with three counts of third degree sexual abuse and three counts of forcible touching.

Widener was first arrested on Aug. 12 for allegedly sexually abusing a 34-year-old woman who was getting a massage at Karasmatic Day Spa, police said.

Then last month, Widener also charged with inappropriately touching 3 more female customers on Aug. 11 and Jan. 27, police said.

Widener worked at Elements Massage on East Main Street from June 2013 through December 2017. He was reportedly fired from Karasmatic Day Spa following his arrest.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have been a victim of Widener to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
