Man Accused Of Trying To Illegally Rent Ebo Hill Mansion, Smithtown Officials Say: Report

The owner of the mansion pleaded not guilty and is set to appear in court later this month, according to the report.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Richard Albano, the owner of the Ebo Hill mansion in Smithtown, was accused by Smithtown officials of trying to illegally rent a part of the mansion last summer, Newsday reported. He pleaded not guilty to three charges of violating the town code and is due in court on Nov. 29.

Albano was accused by town investigators of using Airbnb to advertise an illegal rental of a three-bedroom apartment in the mansion on July 18, as well as not registering the property with the municipal rental registry program and not getting a certificate of existing use for the apartment, Newsday reported. Albano told Newsday that services like pool parties and rentals of the ballroom and speakeasy were removed from the mansion's website after they were mistakenly added by the person he paid to create the site.
