Man Robbed Nesconset Gas Station With Machete: Police
The 50-year-old was arrested after an officer recognized him from surveillance video, police said.

NESCONSET, NY - A Ronkonkoma man was arrested on Friday for robbing a gas station in Nesconset earlier this week, according to Suffolk Police.
Joseph Gallo, 50, entered the BP station at 294 Smithtown Boulevard on July 10 at 9:28 p.m., policesaid.
He displayed a machete and demanded money from an employee, police said.

The employee complied and Gallo fled with cash eastbound on Smithtown Boulevard, police said.
Detectives obtained video and distributed a description of Gallo. An officer then recognized Gallo at the corner of Smithtown Boulevard and Metzner Road in Ronkonkoma on Friday at 5:50 p.m. and arrested him, police said.

He was charged with first degree robbery.
