Man Finds Dropped Wallet In Suffolk, Uses Debit Card: Police

Three withdrawals were made from the bank account of the man who dropped his wallet, police say.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is seeking the public's help in finding the man who police say stole from another person's bank account in March.

A man dropped his wallet in front of Mathnasium, at 140A East Main St., Smithtown, around 2:45 p.m. March 12, police said. Shortly after, another man used a debit card from the wallet to make three withdrawals from the wallet owner's bank account, police said. The man is wanted for grand larceny.

Police ask anyone with information to reach Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and leave an anonymous tip via phone call at 1-800-220-TIPS, using a mobile app which can be downloaded through the App Store or Google Play by searching P3 Tips, or online at www.P3Tips.com. A cash reward of up to $5,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
