Man Robs Nesconset Liquor Store, Gets Arrested: Police

The man displayed a handgun and knife to an employee before stealing a bottle of vodka, police say.

NESCONSET, NY — A man was arrested on Wednesday after Suffolk police said he robbed a Nesconset liquor store the day before.

Matthew Kalisky, 19, of Nesconset, entered Wine & Liquor Busters, at 167 Smithtown Blvd., at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, displayed a handgun and knife to an employee, and then ordered him to lock the front door, police said. The employee went to the front door and fled, police said. Kalisky stole a bottle of vodka before leaving, police said.

Off-duty Canine Officer Sean Clark, who was passing the area and saw Kalisky near the store before the robbery, helped identify him, police said.

Kalisky was found at Gibbs Pond Road and Lake Avenue, Nesconset, at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and was arrested, police said. He was charged with two counts of first-degree robbery.

Kalisky is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday.
