
SMITHTOWN, NY - A 29-year-old man was shot in the leg outside a Smithtown nightclub early Friday morning, Suffolk Police said.
According to police, a patron inside Hypnosis 8.0, located at 43 East Main St., grabbed and hung onto a water pipe and caused it to break, which led to an evacuation of the club at about 1:15 a.m.
While the crowd was outside, an altercation began and at least two people fired shots. A Central Islip man, who police did not name, was shot in the leg and was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital by the Smithtown Fire Department with non-life threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made. The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
Hypnosis 8.0 opened last year at the former site of the The Artful Dodger.

In March, police say two men punched a victim and stole cash and an iPhone at Hypnosis. On the same night, a woman was punched in the mouth at the club after she accidentally bumped into another woman, police say.
