ST. JAMES, NY — Fifth graders at Mills Pond Elementary School received a special education on the Lunar New Year from Mills Pond parent, Wanling Fahrer, the Smithtown School District shared.

Fahrer taught the students some Chinese words and phrases and modeled how to make a dragon to commemorate the year of the Wood Dragon. The Lunar New Year, also known as the Chinese New Year, begins on Feb. 10.
