Mom Drove While On Drugs With 6-Year-Old Daughter In Car: SCPD

The 30-year-old was pulled over after she was seen swerving off the roadway, police say.

SMITHTOWN, NY - A Smithtown mom was caught driving while on drugs with her 6-year-old daughter in the back seat in Smithtown on Tuesday afternoon, according to Suffolk Police.

A 911 caller reported seeing an intoxicated woman swerving off the roadway while driving a car with a child in the backseat at Brooksite Drive at about 12:05 p.m., police said.

Officer Christopher Weiner stopped the 2000 Nissan on West Jericho Turnpike and found 30-year-old Blair Baldwin driving with her daughter in the back seat, police said.

She was arrested shortly after.

Baldwin was charged with aggravated driving while ability impaired by drugs with a child passenger 15-Years-Old or younger under Leandra’s Law and endangering the welfare of a child.

The child was released to a family member. There were no injuries.

Baldwin was held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
