NYPD Officer From Suffolk Saved Child Sexual Abuse Material To Phone, SCDA Says

The officer was accused of possessing photos depicting sexual abuse of girls between 4 and 12 years old, the DA said.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — An NYPD officer was indicted on child pornography charges after he was accused of screenshotting and saving child sexual abuse images to his cell phone, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said Thursday.

Steven Marksberry, 50, of Lake Grove, faces 119 charges.

"Not only is this defendant alleged to have saved a large quantity of child sexual abuse material to his phone, but he is alleged to have done so while he was a sworn police officer," Tierney said in a news release. "No one is above the law. The safety of our children is, and always will be, of the utmost priority for my office."
