Police: Cross-Dressing Bank Robber Arrested
Man charged with robbing Smithtown bank earlier this month.

A Coram man was arrested on Friday and charged with robbing a bank in Smithtown earlier this month, police said.
Wesley Keene, 36, was arrested by members of the Warrant Enforcement Section and charged with third degree robbery, police said. Keene was also charged with third degree criminal mischief for intentionally driving his car into a police vehicle and reckless driving for attempting to evade officers, police said.
On April 1, police say Keene was dressed in women’s attire when he entered the TD Bank located at 714 Nesconset Highway and displayed a note stating he had a gun and demanding cash.

The teller complied with his demand and gave him an undetermined amount of cash at about 4:05 p.m., police said.
No one was hurt during the robbery Keene is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
