Police Seeking Woman Who Used Scam to Steal Money From Lake Grove Store
Have you seen this woman? Police are looking for her.
LAKE GROVE, NY -Police are seeking a woman who used a sleight-of-hand scam to steal money from a Lake Grove store in August and September.
A woman (pictured above) entered Toys R Us on 3250 Middle Country Road, and used a $100 bill to purchase an inexpensive item, police said.
As the cashier was putting the money in the drawer, the woman said she would like to use a smaller bill.

As the cashier exchanged the lesser bill with the $100 bill, the woman quickly switched the $100 bill with a dollar bill and claimed she was only given a dollar, police said.
She left in a small silver vehicle, possibly a Scion.

The woman scammed store employees on August 20 and September 25.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
