Smithtown 2023-24 School Budget Passes, Board Of Election Results

SMITHTOWN, NY — Residents within the boundaries of the Smithtown School District on Tuesday voted to pass the 2023-24 school budget by a margin of 4,236 votes to 2,406.

The district's budget is $280,642,272, up 4.8 percent from last year's. The tax levy is $213,302,727, up 2.83 percent.

Three seats were available on the Smithtown Board of Trustees. Each term is three years, starting July 1 and running through June 30, 2026.

  • Matthew Gribbin held his seat, defeating Elena Guttieri by 3,472 votes to 3,177.
  • John Savoretti held his seat, defeating Nicholas DeBello by 3,343 votes to 3,323.
  • Kevin Craine defeated Vladimir Pean to take Jerry Martusciello's seat by 3,361 votes to 3,282.
