SMITHTOWN, NY — Third graders at Mt. Pleasant Elementary School recently celebrated heritage day, according to a Smithtown Central School District news release.

The students brought family heritage documents or belongings dating at least 50 years old. They worked with family members to research and discover the history behind each family document, as well as important events from that era. The documents represent the cultural diversity of the students. The kids wrote about their findings and shared them with the class. Their families and friends were then invited to view these documents using Flip Grid.
