Smithtown 6th Grader Wins LI-Wide Walt Whitman Poetry Contest
The student earned 1st place honors in the Walt Whitman Poetry Contest for her poem entitled, "Realization and Renewal."

SMITHTOWN, NY — Alicia DiGiambattista, a sixth-grader at Great Hollow Middle School, is getting recognition for her poetry skills. She earned first-place honors in the Long Island-wide Walt Whitman Poetry Contest for her poem entitled, "Realization and Renewal," the Smithtown Central School District announced.
DiGiambattista now has been invited to read her poem aloud at the birthplace of Walt Whitman, in Melville, on May 15.
