SMITHTOWN, NY — Dale and Brennan, a pair of 6-month-old domestic shorthair bonded brothers, were named the Smithtown Animal Shelter's Pets of the Week.

"These handsome boys arrived at the shelter two months ago with severe upper respiratory infections," the shelter wrote in an email. "However, they are now back to being healthy and are ready for their happily ever after together. They were initially very shy when they first came to the shelter, but they have since come out of their shells! These gentle mushes love to cuddle with each other and receive plenty of TLC and attention from humans too."

The ideal home for the two kittens would be a quieter one that would welcome them with open arms.

Kitten season is now all-year, as there are always new kittens coming into the Smithtown Animal Shelter. In 2020, there have been more than 100 kittens at the shelter or in foster care. The shelter has a large variety of male and female kittens in all colors. It is also seeking foster homes for the tiniest kittens who need temporary placement before they're old enough to be adopted.

"If you are looking for a fun loving, yarn tossing ball of love, stop by the Kitten Nursery or the Cat Condos at the Smithtown Animal Shelter and find a PURR-fect soulmate or two," the shelter stated.

The Smithtown Animal Shelter's primary concern is finding the perfect home for each animal that finds his/her way to it. The Animal Control Officers and kennel attendants at the Smithtown Animal Shelter will go out of their way to ensure both the rescued and rescuer are made for one another. If you have other pets, you can arrange to bring your four-legged family member into the shelter or they can set up an at-home meet & greet to see how your prospective new addition does with other family members, pets or the household itself.

The shelter is also seeking foster volunteers. Foster parents provide temporary care for cats, kittens and dogs in their own homes. Some animals need as little as two weeks of care, while others may need care for extended time.
