Smithtown Adoptable Pets Of The Week: 'Seinfeld' Kittens
Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer, named after the "Seinfeld" characters, are up for adoption. Which one are you interested in?

SMITHTOWN, NY — Four kittens named after the four main characters from the hit sitcom "Seinfeld" are the Smithtown Pets of the Week.
Jerry, George, Elaine, and Kramer are all 6-month-old domestic shorthairs who were found abandoned in a tiny carrier while in a very unhealthy state, according to the Smithtown Animal Shelter. They had a severe upper respiratory infection called Calicivirus. This virus was so serious that it caused Jerry and Elaine to each lose an eye, the shelter wrote.
"Despite these issues, these sweethearts kept fighting, and they are now happier and healthier than they’ve ever been," the shelter stated. "After all they’ve been through, they’re ready to find the purrfect family that they can love forever. We are hoping that they can keep their close bond with them in any future homes, so we would love for them to be adopted in pairs. Although they have fully recovered from their illness, any other cats in the home should be vaccinated for Calicivirus."

The Smithtown Animal Shelter's primary concern is finding the perfect home for each animal that finds his/her way to it. The Animal Control Officers and kennel attendants at the Smithtown Animal Shelter will go out of their way to ensure both the rescued and rescuer are made for one another. If you have other pets, you can arrange to bring your four-legged family member into the shelter or they can set up an at-home meet & greet to see how your prospective new addition does with other family members, pets or the household itself.
The shelter is also seeking foster volunteers. Foster parents provide temporary care for cats, kittens and dogs in their own homes. Some animals need as little as two weeks of care, while others may need care for an extended time.
