Smithtown Elementary Students Honored for Anti-Bullying Messages

Third-graders selected as winners in the Child Abuse Prevention Services Bully Prevention Poster/Poem Contest.

Smithtown Elementary School third-graders Samantha Giacini and Angelina Savoretti were selected as winners in the Child Abuse Prevention Services Bully Prevention Poster/Poem Contest.

As a result, both students’ work will appear in the CAPS 2015-2016 calendar, which is distributed to schools throughout Long Island. Angela authored a beautiful poem, while Samantha illustrated an eye-catching poster. Both entries captured the spirit of the CAPS message: Every child has the right to feel safe in school, at home, online and in the community.

CAPS is Long Island’s leading non-profit dedicated to the prevention of bullying, child abuse and neglect, and the only volunteer organization that works directly with children and youth in New York’s Nassau and Suffolk elementary, middle and high schools. The organization combats bullying, cyber-bullying and harassment through educational empowerment, dynamic prevention programs and innovative intervention solutions and services.
