
The Harvard Club of Long Island recently named Smithtown High School East science teacher Joe Rodichok a Distinguished Teacher 2017.
Rodichok is one of only 12 teachers across Long Island to be awarded this distinction.
He was nominated for the award by one of his former students who now attends the college’s undergraduate program.

“Mr. Rodichok is an outstanding teacher who motivates and challenges his students both inside and outside the classroom,” Smithtown Central School District Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Jennifer Bradshaw said. “His professionalism and dedication to teaching, particularly in the subject of physics, has made him an inspiration to his students. This is a well-deserved achievement for a remarkable professional who truly exemplifies the mission of the Smithtown Central School District.”
Rodichok will be honored at a ceremony on April 30.

One of the dozen award winners will also be chosen to receive a Harvard experience in Cambridge.
