Smithtown High School Student-Athletes Recognized
Both Smithtown high schools were recognized because of their student-athletes' prowess in the classroom.
SMITHTOWN, NY — Student-athletes from both Smithtown high schools were recognized for their skills in the classroom, the school district announced.
Smithtown High School West was named a "School of Distinction" and Smithtown High School East a "School of Excellence" by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association.
"The School of Excellence and School of Distinction Awards exemplify the mission of NYSPHSAA,
education through interscholastic athletics," said Dr. Robert Zayas, NYSPHSAA executive director,
via news release. "It is amazing to see the commitment to academic excellence from the schools, administrators, coaches, and student-athletes."
