Smithtown High School West Student Tests Positive For Coronavirus

The student hasn't been in the building since Sept. 11.

SMITHTOWN, NY — A Smithtown High School West student tested positive for the coronavirus, the district was told on Sunday afternoon. The student has not been in the building since Sept. 11, superintendent Mark Secaur wrote in a letter.

The district was notified of the positive case by the Suffolk County Department of Health Services.Contact tracing has begun, and anyone who was in close contact with the student will be notified. Quarantine orders will be issued if necessary.

Secaur did not announce any building closures as a result of the positive test.
