Familiar Face Hired As Smithtown Fine Arts Director
Victoria Hartman attended Smithtown and played the violin. She is returning to her roots. "It's an awesome place," she said of Smithtown.

SMITHTOWN, NY — When Victoria Hartman attended Smithtown High School East, she never imagined one day she would return to the district as its new director of fine arts.
"I’m most looking forward to coming back home for that full circle moment," Hartman said in a news release.
Effective July 1, Hartman will step in for Michael Mastrangelo, the district’s longtime director of fine arts, who is retiring.

A violinist and graduate of the Crane School of Music, Victoria earned her master’s degree at Stony Brook University, and her administrators license at the College of Saint Rose.
For the last 12 years, she has been teaching in the South Country Central School District in Bellport, where she has served as the district’s music chairperson for the last four years.

Even though she was out of district, Victoria still had a love for Smithtown and continued to choreograph musicals at High School East for 10 years.
"I want to make sure our kids now get the same experience I had and I look forward to building upon our successful art and music programs," she said. "I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for my
teachers in Smithtown. It’s an awesome place."
