SMITHTOWN, NY — The Smithtown Central School District hosted its 29th annual Business Olympics, held at High School West on Thursday.
Over the years, business students from both Smithtown high schools have been tasked with creating marketing campaigns, new products, eco-friendly businesses and imagining the 21st century classroom. This year’s theme was "Smithtown Food Service Entrepreneur" with more than 200 students competing from Smithtown High School East and West.
"The skills you have gained here will have you one step ahead, every step of the way," said Superintendent Mark Secaur in a news release.

The first place team, comprised of HSW students Kate Braun, Reese Jurman, Charlotte Muratore and Madeline Sacco, created a restaurant using farm to table ingredients from local farms. In addition to consumers having the capability to customize healthy meal options based on produce that is "in season," the students also came up with an idea for an app where one can create a profile and put in all options, food allergies, and create a healthy meal.

The restaurant project, "In Season," earned the honors of best business plan.
