Smithtown HS West Relay For Life Team Raises $11K, Wins Competition

The school raised more than any other high school in the nation, according to the district.

ST. JAMES, NY — The Smithtown High School West Relay For Life team won first place in the "Fund the Mission" competition, the school district announced.

The competition's goal was to see who could raise the most money in a 72-hour span.

The Smithtown High School West team raised nearly $11,000 and was the number one fundraising high school in the nation, the district said.

This is the second year in a row Smithtown High School West has won this competition.

"The district gives a special shout out to students Jessica Amado and Julia Pappas who both
finished in the top 10 in individual fundraising," the district stated.
