Smithtown Police Blotter: 2 Cars Stolen
The keys were left in both cars when they were stolen, police say.
SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? Check out the recent crimes reported in the area between Aug. 28 and Sept. 4.
The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- Sept. 3: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Heidie Court in St. James at 3:39 a.m. Someone stole a 2018 BMW from a driveway after the keys were left inside the car, police said.
- Sept. 2: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Community Drive in Nesconset at 6:30 a.m. A 2020 Honda Civic was stolen after the keys were left inside the car, police said. The car was parked in a residential parking lot, police said.
- Aug. 29: Identity theft (first-degree) was reported on Steven Place in Smithtown from Aug. 26 at 9 a.m. A thief took out a loan in a man's name, police said.
- Aug. 29: Identity theft (first-degree) was reported on North Country Road in St. James from Aug. 24 at noon. A thief fraudulently opened a Lowe's Home Improvement American Express credit card with someone else's information, police said.
