Smithtown Police Blotter: 2 Cars Stolen; Catalytic Converter Swiped
One of the cars was recovered by officers, police say.
SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? Check out the recent crimes reported in the area between Jan. 30 and Feb. 4.
The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- Feb. 2: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on New Moriches Road in Lake Grove at 5:35 p.m. A man left his car keys in his sweatshirt in an unlocked locker at LA Fitness, police said. His 2017 Mazda was stolen but eventually recovered by officers, police said.
- Jan. 31: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Glenrich Drive in Smithtown from Jan. 30 at 9:30 p.m. A 2018 Honda was stolen from a driveway, police said. The car was unlocked with the keys left inside, police said.
- Jan. 30: Criminal mischief (third-degree) was reported on Tulip Grove Drive in Lake Grove from Jan. 29 at 11 p.m. A catalytic converter was swiped off a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander, police said.
