Smithtown Police Blotter: $350K Stolen From Person's Bank Account

ALSO: A man was shot in the arm after leaving a Smithtown bar, police say.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? Check out the recent crimes reported in the area between June 26 and July 3.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • July 3: Assault (second-degree) was reported on West Main Street in Smithtown at 3:40 a.m. A man was leaving Ilusiones Bar & Lounge when he got shot in the arm in the parking lot, police said.
  • July 1: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Cusick Avenue in Smithtown from June 30 at 8 p.m. Someone stole a purse containing a wallet and credit card from an unlocked vehicle, police said.
  • June 29: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Maple Avenue in Smithtown from June 27 at noon. A person or people were scammed into giving money for a deposit on a new apartment when the scammer did not have an apartment to sell, police said.
  • June 28: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Grassy Pond Drive in Smithtown at 2:30 a.m. Roughly $5,000 worth of camera equipment was stolen from someone's unlocked Jeep, police said.
  • June 27: Identity theft (first-degree) was reported on Cross Street in Smithtown at 11:39 a.m. A person hacked into someone else's online Citibank account and wired $350,000 out of their account, police said.
