Smithtown Police Blotter: Car Stolen
The car keys were stolen from an unlocked gym locker, police say.
SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? Check out the recent crimes reported in the area between Jan. 15 and Jan. 22.
The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- Jan. 18: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on East Main Street in Smithtown at 7:15 p.m. Someone stole a person's keys out of an unlocked locker at LA Fitness, police said. The person used the keys to steal a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe, police said.
- Jan. 16: Criminal mischief (third-degree) was reported on Lindner Place in Smithtown from Jan. 15 at 1:30 p.m. A 2021 Honda Civic was scratched with a key, police said.
- Jan. 15: Burglary (third-degree) was reported on Hawkins Avenue in Lake Grove at 10 p.m. A side door was pried open at CVS, police said. Someone tried to break into an ATM, but they could only damage the machine, police said.
