Smithtown Police Blotter: Car Stolen

ALSO: Someone approached someone else at a 7-Eleven parking lot and demanded money, police say.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? Check out the recent crimes reported in the area between Feb. 12 and Feb. 18.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Feb. 17: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Hawkins Avenue in Lake Grove at 7:25 p.m. A 2012 Toyota RAV4 was stolen, police said.
  • Feb. 17: Grand larceny (second-degree) was reported at Middle Country Road in Nesconset from Aug. 12, 2022, at 2 p.m. Someone tried to fraudulently purchase a 2021 BMW, police said.
  • Feb. 16: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on West Jericho Turnpike in Smithtown at 3:30 p.m. A pocketbook containing credit cards and a driver's license was stolen from a business in a shopping center at 975 W. Jericho Turnpike, Smithtown, police said.
  • Feb. 16: Robbery (third-degree) was reported on West Main Street in Smithtown at 8:55 p.m. Someone approached someone else, who was in a parked car at 7-Eleven, and demanded money, police said.
  • Feb. 15: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove at 4:30 p.m. Children's clothing was stolen from a store at Smith Haven Mall, police said.
  • Feb. 15: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported at the Steuben Boulevard in Lake Grove at 5:25 p.m. Someone cashed a fraudulent check, police said.
