Smithtown Police Blotter: Cash Register, Cigarettes Stolen From Shop
ALSO: A woman was scammed for two years, police say.
SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? Check out the recent crimes reported in the area between July 4 and July 9.
The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- July 8: Burglary (third-degree) was reported on West Main Street in Smithtown at 2 a.m. Two people broke into Pit Stop and stole a cash register with the cash inside it and 35 cartons of cigarettes, police said.
- July 7: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Tiffany Lane in Smithtown at 2:20 p.m. A woman was scammed for approximately two years, police said. She was emailed to send numerous payments for identity theft protection services, police said.
- July 5: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Middle Country Suite Road in Nesconset from July 4 at 2 p.m. Four rims and four tires were stolen from a 2014 Mercedes at Expedition Imports, police said.
