Smithtown Police Blotter: Dunkin' Donuts Broken Into
ALSO: A person was scammed out of more than $15,000, and a catalytic converter was stolen from a parked car, police say.
SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? Check out the recent crimes reported in the area between Jan. 2 and Jan. 8.
The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- Jan. 6: Burglary (third-degree) was reported on Arlington Avenue in St. James at 12:01 a.m. Cash was stolen from St. James Self Storage after the door was pried open, police said.
- Jan. 5: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Cornell Avenue in Smithtown at 4:30 a.m. A catalytic converter was stolen off a 2006 Honda, police said.
- Jan. 5: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Avery Court in Nesconset at 1:20 p.m. Someone was bilked out of more than $15,000 during a phone scam, police said.
- Jan. 2: Burglary (third-degree) was reported on West Main Street in Smithtown at 2:58 a.m. Someone pried open the back door of Dunkin' Donuts and damaged three registers, police said. Cash was stolen from the registers, police said.
