Smithtown Police Blotter: Fences Damaged At 2 Smithtown Homes

ALSO: Several handbags were stolen from Macy's at Smith Haven Mall by someone who has stolen from the store in the past, police say.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Oct. 1: Harassment (second-degree) was reported at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove at 12:12 p.m. A former employee at Smith Haven Mall started yelling and screaming at a current employee for unknown reasons and threw an electronic device across the store, police said.
  • Sept. 28: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Birch Street in Lake Grove from Sept. 25 at 1 p.m. Someone entered a home and stole cash and jewelry, police said.
  • Sept. 27: Criminal mischief (fourth-degree) was reported on Crocus Lane in Smithtown at 12:30 a.m. Someone kicked out several panels of someone's PVC fence before they got back in a car and drove off, police said.
  • Sept. 27: Criminal mischief (fourth-degree) was reported on Fawn Place in Smithtown from Sept. 26 at 11 p.m. Somebody broke a portion of a PVC fence in a back yard, police said.
  • Sept. 27: Grand larceny (first-degree) was reported at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove at 5:30 p.m. Someone stole several Michael Kors handbags from Macy's in Smith Haven Mall before getting away, police said. The person is known to Macy's and has stolen from them in the past, but he/she has not been identified, police said.
