Smithtown Police Blotter: Home Burglarized; Money And Jewelry Stolen
ALSO: A group jumped on and kicked a police vehicle, police say.
SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? Check out the recent crimes reported in the area between Oct. 22 and Oct. 29.
The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- Oct. 29: Criminal mischief (second-degree) was reported on Ocean Avenue in Lake Ronkonkoma at 12:04 a.m. Approximately 200 people were blocking Ocean Avenue and watching vehicles do doughnuts in the roadway when roughly 10 to 15 people began jumping on the hood and roof of a police car, and several people were kicking the police vehicle, police said.
- Oct. 27: Burglary (third-degree) was reported on Columbus Avenue in Smithtown at 7:15 p.m. A man burglarized a home and stole money and jewelry, police said.
- Oct. 27: Burglary (third-degree) was reported on Portion Road in Lake Grove from Oct. 26 at 4:45 p.m. Someone entered a shuttered Checker's while it was being renovated sometime between Oct. 26 and Oct. 27 and stole copper pipes, sink faucets, a monitor, and more, police said.
- Oct. 22: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on East Main Street in Smithtown at 1:15 p.m. Electrical copper wire was stolen from Ace Hardware, police said.
