Smithtown Police Blotter: Jewelry And Cash Nabbed From Home
ALSO: A man was blackmailed into sending someone on Instagram money, police say.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- March 8: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Rosalia Court in Smithtown at 10 p.m. Someone solicited a man on Instagram, claiming to be a woman, police said. The scammer requested nudes, which the man then sent, police said. The scammer demanded money, and if the man did not pay, threatened to send his nudes to all his friends, police said. The man sent the scammer money, police said.
- March 8: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Veterans Memorial Highway in Smithtown at 5:20 p.m. Someone smashed the driver's side back window of a 2019 Hyundai parked at Crunch Fitness and stole a credit card, police said. The credit card was then used, police said.
- March 7: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Middle Country Road in Smithtown at 5:46 p.m. Someone stole a wallet out of an unlocked 2020 Buick, police said.
- March 7: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Landing Meadow Road in Smithtown at 4:57 p.m. A woman received a phone call from someone claiming to be from the Williamson County Sheriff's Office, police said. The scammer told the woman she owed money for missing a court date, police said. The woman sent the money through Zelle, police said.
- March 6: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Columbus Avenue in Smithtown at 9:01 p.m. Jewelry and cash were stolen from a home, police said.
