Smithtown Police Blotter: Gold Chains, Bracelets Stolen At Mall

ALSO: Someone made several online transfers in an identity theft, police say.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? Check out the recent crimes reported in the area between Feb. 25 and March 4.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • March 1: Burglary (third-degree) was reported on Middle Country Road in Lake Grove from Feb. 28 at 8:15 p.m. Gold chains and bracelets were stolen from the Piercing Pagoda kiosk at Smith Haven Mall, police said. Two cabinets were ajar with the drawers on the ground when police found the jewelry had been stolen, police said.
  • Feb. 28: Identity theft (first-degree) was reported on Burham Drive in Smithtown from Aug. 24, 2022 at midnight. Someone made several online transfers to an unknown account, police said.
  • Feb. 27: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Franciscan Lane in Smithtown at 5:54 a.m. A person stole someone else's wallet from a 2015 Jeep and made an online purchase on Walmart, police said.
