Smithtown Police Blotter: Kids Throw Bottles At Woman And Her Car

ALSO: A stolen credit card was used to make purchases worth more than $8,000, police say.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Sept. 4: Identity theft (first-degree) was reported on Ellen Court in Lake Grove from Sept. 1 at noon. Someone transferred money from someone else's savings account, police said.
  • Sept. 3: Criminal mischief (second-degree) was reported on Route 111 in Village of the Branch at 11:06 p.m. A large group of kids threw bottles at a woman's 2021 Honda Civic in the parking lot of Hot Bagels, police said. When the woman left her car, the teens threw bottles at her, police said. The car sustained major damage, though the woman did not go to the hospital, police said.
  • Sept. 2: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove at 5:30 p.m. Someone used a stolen credit card to make multiple purchases worth more than $8,000, police said.
