Smithtown Police Blotter: Man Suffers Fractured Skull In Attack

The man was hit with a baseball bat while walking in Smithtown, police say. ALSO: A car was stolen, police say.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? Check out the recent crimes reported in the area between Nov. 27 and Dec. 3.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Dec. 3: Burglary (third-degree) was reported on Middle Country Road in Lake Grove at 6:40 a.m. Someone drove onto the property of Lake Grove Medical and then broke into the side door of the garage with a crowbar, police said. Nothing seems to have been stolen, police said.
  • Nov. 28: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Nesconset Highway in Lake Grove at 3:20 p.m. Two men entered an AT&T store, removed a security device and then swiped iPhones and other cell phones, police said.
  • Nov. 27: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Astor Avenue in St. James between midnight and 10 a.m. A 2015 Mercedes was stolen, police said. The keys were not with the vehicle when it was stolen, police said.
  • Nov. 27: Assault (second-degree) was reported on West Main Street in Smithtown at 4:21 a.m. A man was walking in a parking lot when he was hit in the side of the head with a baseball bat, police said. The man suffered a fractured skull and was taken to a hospital, police said. His attacker fled, police said.
