Smithtown Police Blotter: Mobil Gas Station Broken Into

The thief used a cinderblock to break the glass door before stealing the cash register, police say.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Aug. 23: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Route 25A in Smithtown from Aug. 22 at 10 p.m. Someone left their vehicle in a parking lot overnight between Aug. 22 and 23, police said. During the night, a thief broke a window and stole a wallet containing credit cards and identification documents, police said.
  • Aug. 22: Burglary (second-degree) was reported on West Jericho Turnpike in Smithtown at 2:30 a.m. Someone entered a Mobil gas station by using a cinder block to break a glass door, police said. The person stole the cash register and cartons of cigarettes before fleeing, police said.
