Smithtown Police Blotter: Multiple Businesses Stolen From

Two cash registers and a box of change were stolen from a small business, police say.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Dec. 18: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Lupine Lane in Lake Grove from Dec. 17 at 10 a.m. A person emailed someone and pretended to be their boss and asked them to buy gift cards, police said. The person complied and sent the gift cards to the person pretending to be their boss, police said.
  • Dec. 16: Burglary (third-degree) was reported on Nesconset Highway in Smithtown from Dec. 15 at 10:35 p.m. A person broke the drive-thru window of a Dunkin Donuts and stole a cash register, police said.
  • Dec. 15: Burglary (third-degree) was reported on Terry Road in Nesconset from Dec. 14 at 11 p.m. A person used a cement brick to break the front door of one of the businesses at 117 Terry Road, police said. The thief stole two cash registers and a full box of change, police said.
  • Dec. 13: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Nesconset Highway in Nesconset from Dec. 12 at 9:15 p.m. Someone stole four industrial vacuum cleaners from Prime Shine Car Wash, police said.
