Smithtown Police Blotter: Porsche Stolen During Test Drive Request

ALSO: Cash, credit cards and documents were stolen from an unlocked car, police say.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? Check out the recent crimes reported in the area between April 16 and April 22.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • April 22: Identity theft (first-degree) was reported on Lake Avenue South in Nesconset from Oct. 1, 2020, at 9 a.m. Someone applied for a loan in someone else's name, police said.
  • April 21: Burglary (second-degree) was reported on Buckingham Court in Head of the Harbor at 9:30 p.m. A person pried open a home's back window and went inside, police said. It is unclear if anything was stolen, police said.
  • April 18: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Pond Road in Lake Grove at 7 a.m. A bag containing cash, credit cards and other documents was stolen from an unlocked 2012 Mercedes-Benz, police said.
  • April 17: Grand larceny (second-degree) was reported on Doyle Street in Nesconset at 6:30 p.m. Someone went to SR Auto Group and asked to test drive a 2018 Porsche Cayenne, police said. The person jumped into the driver's seat and stole the Porsche, police said.
