Smithtown Police Blotter: Signature Forged For Bank Loans

ALSO: A car was damaged, police say.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? Check out the recent crimes reported in the area between March 12 and March 18.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • March 16: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Lake Avenue in St. James at 12:11 p.m. Someone slashed the passenger back tire and broke the passenger front window of a 2015 Hyundai Elantra outside of Garguilos Bakery, police said.
  • March 12: Identity theft (first-degree) was reported on Landing Avenue in Smithtown from March 1 at 3 p.m. A person forged a signature for multiple bank loans, police said.
