Smithtown Police Blotter: St. James Home Shot At; Cars Scratched

Someone fired a weapon at the home, damaging the home's front door and siding, police say.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Aug. 6: Criminal mischief (fourth-degree) was reported on Evergreen Avenue in Smithtown from Aug. 4 at 6 p.m. Someone broke the rear taillight of a vehicle parked outside of a home sometime overnight, police said.
  • Aug. 5: Criminal mischief (second-degree) was reported on Huber Place in St. James at 1 a.m. A person fired a weapon and damaged the front glass door and siding of a home, police said. A Chevrolet parked in the driveway was also scratched and a tire was slashed, police said.
  • Aug. 5: Criminal mischief (third-degree) was reported on Huber Place in St. James at 1 a.m. A person scratched a Honda parked at a home, police said.
  • Aug. 3: Burglary (second-degree) was reported on Long Street in Lake Grove from Aug. 2 at 6:35 a.m. Someone entered a home through an unlocked back door and stole medication, a postal scale, and cash, police said.
