Smithtown Police Blotter: Subway Sandwich Shop Stolen From

Someone took out federal small business loans in two peoples' names in 2020, police say.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? Check out the recent crimes reported in the area between July 10 and July 16.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • July 14: Two counts of identity theft (first-degree) were reported on Blackman Street in St. James from Aug. 7, 2020, at 7 a.m. Two people in the same household reported that someone took out federal small business loans in their names sometime in 2020, police said.
  • July 11: Burglary (third-degree) was reported on Smithtown Boulevard in Nesconset from July 10 at 9:30 p.m. A person used a brick to shatter the front glass window of Subway, entered the eatery and then stole cash from the register, police said.
