Smithtown Police Blotter: Victoria's Secret Fragrances Stolen

ALSO: A person was scammed out of $400 after they were threatened, police say.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? Check out the recent crimes reported in the area between Jan. 23 and Jan. 29.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • Jan. 24: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Golf Club Road in St. James at noon. Someone Venmo'd $400 to a scammer after the scammer texted them and told them they would publicize photos that would harm their reputation if they did not send them money, police said.
  • Jan. 23: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove at 11:05 a.m. A person stole $1,300 worth of fragrances from Victoria's Secret, police said.
