Smithtown Police Blotter: War Memorabilia Stolen In Home Burglary

ALSO: 11 residential mailboxes were damaged in Smithtown, police say.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • July 17: 11 incidents of fourth-degree criminal mischief were reported on Oakside Road and Knob Hill Drive in Smithtown between 10 p.m. July 16 and 1:55 a.m. July 17. A group damaged 11 mailboxes, and police are investigating whether the incidents are connected, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call the Fourth Precinct Crime Section at 631-854-8426.
  • July 15: Burglary (third-degree) was reported on Nesconset Highway in Nesconset from July 14 at 2:13 a.m. Someone entered Public Storage and broke into multiple storage units, damaging the locks, police said. Property was stolen from multiple units, police said.
  • July 15: Burglary (third-degree) was reported on Route 25A in Smithtown from July 8 at 4 p.m. Someone entered a home between July 8 and July 15 and stole Civil War and World War II memorabilia, as well as a sword, police said.
