Smithtown Police Blotter: Woman Scammed By Fake PSEG Employee
ALSO: An envelope holding cash went missing from a woman's home after she had contractors working there, police say.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.
- Oct. 10: Criminal mischief (third-degree) was reported on Marchant Drive in St. James from Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. A person slashed all four tires on someone's 2009 Honda Civic parked outside their home, police said.
- Oct. 9: Burglary (second-degree) was reported on Carnegie Drive in St. James from Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. Cash, a safe and fishing equipment were stolen from a home when a burglar entered through the garage door and pried open the connecting door into the kitchen, police said.
- Oct. 7: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on East Main Street in Smithtown from Oct. 6 at 3:30 p.m. A woman received a phone call from someone telling her they worked for PSEG, police said. The person told the woman she owed money or her electric would be turned off, police said. She wired money to the person who called, who was not a PSEG employee, police said.
- Oct. 6: Criminal mischief (fourth-degree) was reported on Veterans Memorial Highway in Smithtown at 11:30 a.m. Someone went to Performance Fuels in Smithtown and broke a doorknob on the side of the building, police said. However, the person could not get into the building or steal anything, police said.
- Oct. 6: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Fawn Place in Smithtown from Oct. 1 at 10 a.m. A woman noticed an envelope holding cash was missing after she had contractors working inside her home, police said.
- Oct. 5: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Oakside Drive in Smithtown from Oct. 4 at 9 p.m. A homeowner parked a John Deere mower at the end of his driveway when it wasn't working properly, police said. When he returned, he found someone had stolen the machine, police said.
