SMITHTOWN, NY — Guests from NYU-LI hospital visited kindergarten students at Smithtown Elementary on Tuesday to impart safety tips, the Smithtown Central School District announced.
The volunteers first spoke to the children about the proper ways to keep safe while riding a bicycle by always wearing a helmet. To emphasize their message, they had students drop two eggs: one with a "helmet" and one without. The one without the helmet cracked.
The volunteers also discussed seat belt safety in cars and personal hygiene.
