SMITHTOWN, NY — Smithtown students taught their fellow learners about Veterans Day and wrote thank you cards to those who served our country earlier in November, according to the Smithtown Central School District.

Joan Havranek's High School West Junior Leadership class visited Mt. Pleasant Elementary School to teach students about Veterans Day.

The students visited fourth-grade classrooms to talk about the meaning and history of
Veterans Day and organize a thank you letter writing activity.

The high school students also discussed Smithtown veterans and asked the students if they had any veterans in their families. Many said yes.
