Smithtown To Vote Library Trustees, Budget
There are 15 candidates vying for the three seats. A temporary ban on Pride Month displays is a hot topic going into Tuesday's election.

TOWN OF SMITHTOWN, NY — Town of Smithtown residents are heading to the polls on Tuesday to vote on The Smithtown Library's trustees and budget.
There are 15 candidates vying for three seats, with incumbents Joseph Gregurich and Anita Dowd-Neufeld in the running. There are seven trustee seats in total.
The polls are open from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Voting instructions and locations can be found on The Smithtown Library website.

LGBTQ Pride displays could be a voter issue heading into the election. In June, the Smithtown Library Board voted to remove LGBTQ+ Pride month displays from children's rooms.
The board held an emergency vote and reversed the decision two days later after New York Governor Kathy Hochul was among those who condemned the decision on social media.
